3-Alarm fire in Schiller Park, 9-26-19

9/26/19 – 3-11 Alarm Fire @ 3902 River Rd.

In Schiller Park, a fire broke out in an outdoor storage facility. When the first units arrived, they found 2-3 storage lockers already on fire. Engine 5 pulled up and started laying lines, but the fire had already spread to adjacent units. The alarm was quickly escalated to a Box Alarm, bringing in additional crews from surrounding areas. By the time the Box Alarm was called, the fire was already spreading rapidly. It eventually became a 3-Alarm incident. Several companies from neighboring communities were involved in the response. There was a lot of physical work and forced entry efforts to contain the flames. I believe a total of 7 or 8 hand lines were deployed. We arrived just before the Box Alarm was activated, so we got to witness the early stages of the operation.
