Box alarm fire in Evanston, 4-8-20

Excerpts from fox32chicago.com:

Evanston firefighters were called to a single-family home in the 2200 block of Sherman Avenue at 9:09 p.m. on Sunday night after reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the south side of the house fully engulfed in flames, with heavy smoke filling the interior. They quickly rescued a disoriented resident from the front doorway and safely retrieved the family's cat from inside the burning structure.

The blaze was brought under control within an hour, and the homeowner was taken to the hospital for routine checks, reportedly in good condition. Two firefighters also received medical attention for minor soft tissue injuries sustained during the operation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by local authorities. No other injuries or major damages have been reported so far.
