Flow Control Valve 1. Product Introduction This flow control valve is designed and manufactured by our company based on advanced models from the United States, France, and China. It utilizes hydraulic operation combined with automatic control. The valve body features a streamlined design, minimizing internal head loss. One of its key characteristics is its dual functionality as both a pressure relief valve and a pressure sustaining valve. As a pressure relief valve, it releases excess pressure beyond the pilot valve's set value, maintaining safe pipeline pressure and preventing damage caused by high or sudden pressure surges. It is commonly used in high-rise building fire test cycle systems and other water supply systems to ensure that excessive hydraulic pressure does not pose a risk to the system. As a pressure sustaining valve, it maintains the upstream water supply pressure above a certain threshold, ensuring consistent pressure for the main valve. This product is an ideal choice for water supply systems due to its reliability and performance. 2. Structure The valve consists of the main valve, pilot valve, needle valve, ball valve, and pressure gauge. Working Principle and Purpose As a pressure relief valve, the main valve is installed on the drain bypass, connected in parallel with the main line. When the upstream pressure exceeds the pilot valve’s set value of 20, the main valve quickly drains to relieve pressure until the upstream pressure drops below this value. This prevents water hammer and ensures pipeline safety. It is mainly used to eliminate excess pressure caused by higher flow supply than demand, such as in the early stages of fire hydrant systems, automatic sprinkler systems, and pump outlets in various water supply systems. As a pressure sustaining valve, the main valve is installed on the main pipe, connected in series with the main line. If the upstream pressure of the main valve is lower than the pilot valve’s set value of 20, the main valve remains closed. When the upstream pressure exceeds this value, the main valve opens, supplying water downstream to maintain the required pressure. It is primarily used to maintain minimum supply pressure in the main pipe, especially during fire events, and prevents decompression due to over-pumping. 6. Installation and Adjustment 1. The optimal installation is horizontal with the pump cover facing up. Other installation methods can also be used, but it’s essential to thoroughly clean the pipes before installation. Pay attention to the flow direction arrow on the main valve body and install it accordingly. Ensure no pipe stress is applied to the valve body or internal parts after installation. 2. Before the main valve, a gate valve and filter should be installed. A gate valve should also be placed after the main valve for maintenance purposes. 3. Ensure the pipeline is in good condition, the needle valve (23) is open, the ball valve (21) is closed, and the balancing ball valves are fully open. When adjusting, loosen the lock nut under the pilot valve wheel, then rotate the pilot valve wheel clockwise to increase pressure or counterclockwise to reduce it, and re-tighten the lock nut afterward. 4.
