Flow Control Valve 1. Product Introduction This flow control valve is designed and manufactured by our company based on advanced models from the United States, France, and China. It uses hydraulic operation and automatic control. The streamlined design of the valve body ensures minimal internal head loss. One of its main features is that it can function as both a pressure relief valve and a pressure sustaining valve. As a pressure relief valve, it releases pressure that exceeds the set value of the pilot valve, maintaining safe pipeline pressure to prevent damage caused by high or sudden pressure surges. It is commonly used in fire testing systems of high-rise buildings and other water supply systems, ensuring that excessive hydraulic pressure does not pose a risk to the system. As a pressure sustaining valve, it maintains the upstream water supply pressure above a certain level, ensuring stable pressure for the main valve. This product is ideal for use in water supply systems. 2. Structure The valve consists of a main valve, pilot valve, needle valve, ball valve, and pressure gauge. Working Principle and Purpose As a pressure relief valve, the main valve is installed on the drain bypass and connected in parallel with the main line. When the upstream pressure exceeds the pilot valve’s set value (typically 20 bar), the main valve quickly drains to reduce pressure until the upstream pressure drops below the set value. This prevents water hammer and ensures pipeline safety. It is mainly used to eliminate excess pressure due to higher flow supply than demand, such as in the early stages of fire hydrant systems, automatic sprinkler systems, and pump outlets. As a pressure sustaining valve, the main valve is installed on the main pipe and connected in series. If the upstream pressure is below the pilot valve’s set value, the main valve remains closed. When the upstream pressure exceeds the set value, the main valve opens, supplying water to the downstream side to maintain the required pressure. It is primarily used to ensure minimum pressure in the main pipeline, especially during fire events, preventing pressure drop due to over-pumping. 6. Installation and Adjustment 1. The optimal installation is horizontal with the pump cover facing up. Other installation methods are also possible, but it's important to remove all debris from the pipes before installation. Pay attention to the flow direction arrow on the valve body and install it correctly. Ensure there is no stress on the valve body or internal parts after installation. 2. Before the main valve, a gate valve and filter should be installed, along with another gate valve after the main valve for maintenance purposes. 3. Ensure the pipeline is in good condition, with the needle valve open and the ball valve closed. Balance ball valves should be fully open. When adjusting, loosen the lock nut under the pilot valve wheel, then rotate the wheel clockwise to increase pressure or counterclockwise to decrease it. After adjustment, tighten the lock nut again. 4. Thoroughly flush the pipeline before filling it with water. 5. Clean the micro filter regularly to maintain performance.
