Russian experts have developed RF sensors to accurately measure coal dust in mines

Russian experts have recently developed an RF sensor that accurately measures the amount of coal dust in the mine. Experts hope that this sensor can be used in coal mining to prevent mine explosion caused by coal dust accumulation.

According to the Russian "Scientific Information" magazine, the main component of this sensor is a high-sensitivity oscillating circuit. The circuit consists of two wires, which can generate vibrations of different frequencies and quality factors according to the different content of coal dust in the mine air. The computer connected to the sensor can determine the amount of coal dust in the mine by analyzing the vibration of the sensor. Field measurements made in the mine show that the accuracy of this detector can reach 100%.

Russian experts believe that the use of this detection device can accurately understand the coal dust content in the mine roadway, so that by strengthening ventilation and other measures, part of the explosion caused by the accumulation of coal dust can be partially prevented, and casualties can be reduced.

The researchers also said that the shortcoming of this kind of detection device is that the distance between the sensor and the computer must be within 100 meters.
