The United States developed a graphene flexible super capacitor

Rice University, the United States using graphene and other developed a flexible double-layer capacitor (also known as super-capacitor). Related papers have been published on "ACS NANO". This electric double layer capacitor is characterized by excellent bending resistance.

Rice researcher James Tour of Rice University irradiates a polyimide film with a laser beam to form a bubble-like material connected with a graphene sheet on the surface of about 20 μm, and uses this material as an electrode of an electric double layer capacitor. Capacitance density of 16.5mF / cm2, no less ordinary double-layer capacitor products.

James Tour The key point in making electric double layer capacitors using this material is adding boric acid to the polyimide film ahead of time. In this way, the electrical double layer capacitance is increased by 3 to 4 times and the discharge capacity is increased by 5 to 10 times as compared with when no boric acid is added.

Tested, the double-layer capacitor even if the charge and discharge 12000 times, but also to maintain the initial state of 90% of the capacitance. In addition, in the durability test, the performance was not deteriorated even after bending and stretching 8000 times.
