Hitachi Receives Eaton's Commercial Vehicle Hybrid Power System Order

Hitachi and Hitachi Vehicle Energy received orders from Eaton in the United States, including motors, inverters, and lithium-ion rechargeable batteries for commercial vehicle hybrid drive systems. Before delivery before 2011, commercial vehicles equipped with this hybrid system are scheduled to be launched by vehicle manufacturers in North America, Europe, and Asia.

According to Hitachi's survey, the global hybrid vehicle market, including commercial vehicles, will grow from 690,000 units in 2007 to 1.5 million units in 2010. Although commercial vehicles equipped with Eaton hybrid systems may differ slightly in terms of roads and operating conditions, they can basically reduce fuel costs by 30% to 60%.

Eaton has a significant global market share in the development, production and sales of commercial vehicle transmission systems including gearboxes, clutches and hybrid drive systems. From 2005, Eaton began to supply commercial vehicle manufacturers with hybrid drive systems using parts of hybrid vehicles made by Hitachi. It has been used in North America and China for delivery trucks, medium pickup trucks, distribution trucks, and line buses. .
