Tim Olk has shared a series of striking images from the 3-11 alarm warehouse fire that broke out on 38th Street in Chicago this morning. The photos capture the intensity of the blaze and the efforts of firefighters battling the flames.
One image shows Tower Ladder 34 positioned as heavy fire engulfs the roof of the warehouse. Another highlights the activation of a Level 1 Haz-Mat response, underscoring the potential hazards involved. The structure was located at the end of a long block, forcing several engine companies to work in-line to supply water to the firefighting crews.
A firefighter is seen pulling hose to feed a master stream as the fire rapidly spread inside the building. Another shot captures a firefighter waiting for water to be supplied to a ladder pipe, emphasizing the critical need for continuous water flow during such operations.
Tower Ladder 5 was seen using a spare tower ladder at the corner of the building, while Squad 1 deployed the Snorkel as an additional water source. Firefighters had to cut through fencing to access certain parts of the burning structure, showing the challenges they faced during the incident.
