New tender for Cary FPD

We recently received our new fire tender, number 270, which we're excited to showcase on the Chicago Area Fire website. This unit is based out of Station #2 and features a Kenworth T370 chassis equipped with a 3,000-gallon water tank and a 500-gallon-per-minute pump. One of the standout features is a rear-facing camera system that helps the driver monitor what's behind the vehicle, improving safety during maneuvers. Another improvement is the inclusion of a single 3,000-gallon port-a-tank, which allows us to quickly drain the entire water supply without having to set up and connect multiple tanks as we did before. Previously, we used two 2,100-gallon tanks, which required more time and effort to prepare for deployment. The new tender also has a redesigned supply hose setup, with the pump panel located behind a roll-up door in the body. This change not only streamlines operations but also reduces the overall length of the unit by about four feet compared to the previous model. Tender 270 was delivered in mid-August and officially entered service on August 30th. We’re already seeing the benefits of these upgrades in terms of efficiency and ease of use.  Cary Tender 270.
