Oak Park building collapse 8-10-11

The Oak Park Fire Department received a call this afternoon regarding a partial building collapse on the 200 block of Harrison Street, specifically between 201 and 211, at the southwest corner of Harrison Street and Lombard Avenue. Dan McInerney was on the scene and shared several photos along with a detailed account of the incident: "Oak Park dispatched three engines, two ambulances, a command van, and the Mabas Division 11 Technical Rescue Vehicle to the scene of a building collapse at Lombard and Harrison around 1:50 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found a one-story, L-shaped commercial building that measured approximately 150 feet wide by 100 feet deep. A section of the brick facade along about 100 feet of Harrison Street had collapsed onto the sidewalk. Fortunately, no one was injured in this busy commercial area, though two cars parked in front of the affected zone were slightly damaged by falling bricks. The eastern portion of the building had been under renovation for some time. Firefighters conducted a thorough search of the debris along the sidewalk for any potential victims. They remained on site for about 90 minutes, securing the structure and utilities before handing over the building to the local building department for further assessment." Several images from the scene have been shared, capturing the extent of the damage and the efforts of emergency responders. The incident has drawn attention from local media, with articles available [here](#), [here](#), and [here](#).
