Hey everyone, here are some photos I took on Tuesday during the 2-11 incident at the 7600 block of South Eggleston in Chicago. The incident started around 11:10 AM, the box alarm came in at 11:19 AM, and the 2-11 signal was activated at 11:39 AM. Unfortunately, I got there late, arriving at 11:49 AM—just in time for overhaul. The original building on fire has the red awnings. Engine 54 found flames on the back porches upon arrival. Battalion 18 called the second alarm when the fire spread to the house next door to the north. There was also some fire involvement in the house to the south. Truck 20 is still using their spare unit from last week since their regular truck was unavailable. Squad 1 responded because Squad 5 was out of service. The crews had a tough time dealing with thick vegetation in the backyards and downed power lines. These pictures are just a general overview.

As I was driving over, I could see the smoke rising above the rooftops from several blocks away. It was definitely a busy scene with multiple units responding. When I finally got there, the fire was already under control, but you could still feel the heat coming off the buildings. The firefighters were hard at work ensuring everything was secure and checking for any hotspots. It's always a bit nerve-wracking when you arrive late to an incident like this, but thankfully the teams had things well under control by the time I got there.
It’s always interesting to see how these situations unfold, especially with the challenges of overgrowth and utility issues. The firefighters did an amazing job handling everything efficiently despite the complications.
