This past week, Tim Olk stopped by NIPSTA while the students were practicing their skills on vehicle fires. It was quite an intense session, and I managed to snap a few photos during the exercises. Hopefully, these images capture some of the energy and focus everyone brought to the training.
Here’s one shot that really stood out to me—there’s something about how the light hit the flames just right. You can almost feel the heat radiating off the car in this picture.
[Image description: A firefighter working on a controlled car fire. The flames are vivid against the night sky, and the firefighter is wearing full gear as he assesses the situation.]
Then there’s another moment where it felt like time slowed down. Everyone was so synchronized—each move calculated and precise. It reminded me why these simulations are crucial for preparing them for real-world scenarios.

Oh, and here’s one more—it’s a bit different because it shows the aftermath. After the fire was under control, you could see how much effort went into ensuring everything was safe again. It’s not glamorous, but it’s essential.

These pictures were taken by Tim Olk, who has a knack for capturing those decisive moments. If anyone wants to check out the full set, let me know, and I’ll share the link. Training like this isn’t just about learning how to fight fires; it’s about mastering teamwork and staying calm under pressure.
