Four Standards Implement Filter Production in May

The four new standards are “Technical Conditions for Dry Dry Air Filter Assembly for Automobiles”, “Technical Conditions for Automotive Diesel Engine Paper Filter Cartridge Diesel Fine Filter Assembly,” “Test Methods for Diesel Fuel Filters for Automobiles,” and “Automobiles. Air filter test method". The “Air Filter Test Method for Automobiles” is a revised version of the corresponding standard for the 1992 edition, and the other three are all new standards.
The new standard is closer to cars
Lin Jinxiu is now the Deputy Chairman of the Filter Division Technical Committee of the National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee. Although he has passed retirement age, he still participates in the formulation of a number of filter industry standards. He told reporters that the rapid development of the automotive industry, especially the diesel engine industry, has become increasingly demanding for related accessories. However, the filter industry lacks corresponding production and evaluation standards, and some of the existing standards are mostly in the field of agricultural machinery and are not suitable for the automotive industry. The new standard is now set to move closer to the automotive industry.
Gu Deyi, secretary general of the Automotive Filters Committee of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, told the reporter: “These four new standards have a positive effect on regulating the market and improving the product quality of the industry.” These new standards provide reference for filter products used by OEMs. On the other hand, it can guide the filter company to produce.
According to relevant experts, many OEMs are not familiar with all of the filter's knowledge, especially without dedicated test benches and lack of uniform evaluation standards. Many OEMs and filter manufacturers are using their own standards. Some of these standards are simply unreasonable and even jokes. The introduction of new industry standards will help OEMs select higher quality filters. Whether it is a main engine plant or a filter manufacturer, the production and procurement in accordance with the new standards will inevitably help improve the industry level.
New standards suit national conditions
From the preparation of these four new standards, these standards are based on the relevant provisions of the International Standards ISO, but they have been appropriately modified according to China's national conditions in specific projects and links. The basic principle is to ensure the accuracy of the test results and the operability of the test methods, and actively develop and use domestic resources to reduce the cost of the test.
Lin Jinxiu said: "To formulate standards, we must fully consider the feasibility. The cost of testing is very important to the enterprise. For example, in the "air filter test method for automotive vehicles," the life cycle filtration efficiency and dust storage capacity test are Switch to domestic quartz sand. Because the dust used in the ISO standard requires import, the cost is higher. Therefore, the scope of the “Technical conditions for dry air filter assembly for automobiles” does not include cars. Ge Deyi revealed that in the future there will be a special "air vehicle filter technology conditions."
Relevant companies have different reactions
Lin Jinxiu said that the implementation of these new industry standards is somewhat difficult. Strictly speaking, the production level of many domestic filter companies has yet to be improved. For example, 50% of the filter paper used is unqualified, because a considerable part of the filter paper is not produced by regular manufacturers.
Enterprises with low production levels will not implement these standards within a short period of time. During the interview with reporters, several filter manufacturers stated that they are not aware of these standards and will continue to use their own standards.
For the professional filter companies that are determined to build brands, the promulgation and implementation of new standards is a good spur. Wang Hao, Minister of Technology of Chengdu Wanyou Filter Co., Ltd., told reporters with confidence: “We will definitely organize production according to the new standards and try our best to improve our production levels. If there are filter companies whose production levels need to be improved, If you do not meet industry standards for a long time, you will be eliminated."
The response from the OEM is not optimistic. A relevant person in charge of a diesel engine company told the reporter: “We are not aware of these standards and are still using our own filter technology and product standards. The filters used in the 3rd diesel engine are basically joint venture products. There is still a gap in the technical level of filter products."
