The self-lubricating sealed bearing assembly reduces continuous maintenance, saves centralized fuel supply and reduces the environmental impact of the lubricant. With a working load of up to 90,000 lbf/in2 (620 Mpa), the bearings exhibit excellent wear resistance and are only 13% of hard steel in independent experiments. The plain bearing assembly has excellent dimensional stability and excellent corrosion resistance. The complete lip seal blocks the imperfections of the bearing, and the zinc-coated steel housing protects the seal under ballast.
The bearings in the assembly can be GGB's GAR-MAX® or high-strength GAR-MAX® (HSGTM) two-wound plain bearings. Their sliding layer is characterized by continuous winding of high-temperature epoxy PTFE and high-strength fiber resin compressed into self-lubricating. The support layer behind the sliding layer is continuously wound from glass fibers compressed into a high temperature epoxy resin.
The new bearing assemblies are available in a range of standard sizes to accommodate a wide range of shaft diameters from 1" to 4" (25mm-100mm) and a variety of seat hole sizes from 1.75" to 4.875" (41mm-122mm). It can also produce a variety of non-standard size components according to customer needs.
