The Buffalo Grove Fire Department received a call from a concerned neighbor reporting smoke visible at 1400 Caren Court around 4:30 PM on Sunday (October 16, 2016). When firefighters arrived, they found thick black smoke billowing from the roof vents and the rear of the first floor of the building. The initial Code 3 alarm quickly escalated to a Code 4 working fire situation, prompting mutual aid from neighboring departments including Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Arlington Heights, and Rolling Meadows, along with all available units from Buffalo Grove. Although the entire house was filled with smoke, firefighters managed to confine the flames to a single room on the first floor.
I happened to be nearby when this incident occurred and took some photos that I thought might be of interest. These images capture the intensity of the situation as well as the dedication of the firefighters who worked tirelessly to control the blaze. Despite the chaos, their focus remained unwavering, ensuring both the safety of those involved and the protection of property.
