I just got word about the fire that broke out at Camelot Banquets in Hickory Hills. The place has seen better days; it was recently remodeled, and now this. It’s heartbreaking for the family who owns it. As I arrived to take some photos, the family members were already on site, surveying the damage. They were busy boarding up the broken windows, trying to secure what was left. From what I can tell, the heart of the building—possibly the kitchen area—is severely damaged. There’s a noticeable hole, and judging by how things looked the last time I was here (which was over five years ago), that might be where the cooking facilities used to be. They served fantastic Polish cuisine, and I really hope they manage to rebuild soon.
