In MABAS Division 19, the New Lenox Fire Protection District has recently updated its presence on the site. The district operates four fire stations staffed by a mix of career and contract personnel. They currently have four ambulances, four engines, and one aerial unit in service. The ambulances are from Horton and Medtec, while the engines come from Pierce and Sutphen. The aerial is also a Pierce model. Engine 1631, a 2009 Sutphen Shield Series, was previously highlighted because it was once a demo unit that spent time at the Joliet Speedway before being acquired by New Lenox. Another notable piece of equipment at Station 1 is a 1993 Oshkosh TA-3000 ARFF (X-Navy), which can be deployed through MABAS as either a tanker or foam tender for over-the-road tankers and industrial fires. This unit adds a significant level of versatility to the department’s response capabilities. New Lenox also acquired a 1971 Oshkosh/Pierce 75' Snorkel from the Hillsboro Fire Department. This unique apparatus is now stationed at New Lenox Fire Station 1 and continues to serve an important role in high-reach firefighting operations.
