Relying on Tianhua Institute, China's drying technology and equipment development results are gratifying

Established under the expertise of Tianhua Chemical Machinery and Automated Research and Design Institute, the "National Drying Technology and Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center" was officially approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in November 2007. Since its inception, the center has made steady progress toward its objectives, successfully carrying out engineering and technological development tasks. The research and development of large-scale drying technologies and equipment tailored for key domestic projects have yielded impressive results. For instance, the one-million-ton PTA drying technology and equipment for the petrochemical industry, as well as the coke oven coal moisture control device for the steel industry, have reached internationally advanced levels, effectively replacing imported solutions in the domestic market. Building on the success of the 325,000-ton PTA dryer developed by Sinopec Luoyang Branch, the National Drying Center has continuously explored CTA/PTA drying theory and conducted industrial trials. This effort has led to the verification and refinement of drying mathematical models, as well as a deeper understanding of the CTA/PTA drying process and key equipment design technologies. In 2007, Jialong Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. successfully completed the design and development of the CTA/PTA dryer for a 600,000-ton PTA plant. In February of this year, China signed a contract with Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber for the development of the CTA/PTA dryer for its 1 million ton PTA project. This project represents China's independently developed process technology, and the supporting CTA/PTA dryer is the largest domestically developed steam tube rotary dryer. It is scheduled for installation in March 2009. The coking coal moisture control technology aims to enhance product quality while reducing energy consumption. By drying coal before it enters the furnace, the moisture content is reduced from 10% to 6%, which helps minimize heat loss during the coking process and improves coke quality. This technology also ensures the stable and continuous operation of coke ovens. The steam drying system developed by the National Drying Center utilizes low-pressure steam generated by CDQ or other factory sources as a heat source, enabling efficient heat exchange with wet coal through a steam tube rotary dryer. The dust recycling and treatment system has been widely adopted by companies such as Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Shanxi Huijin Stainless Steel Co., Ltd., and Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., offering significant energy-saving, environmental protection, and economic benefits.
