Working fire in Buffalo Grove, 8-29-20

Saturday evening (8/29/20), firefighters from Buffalo Grove responded swiftly to a fire that broke out on the third-floor balcony of a building located at 1541 Johnson Drive. The flames were initially spotted along the outer edge of the balcony, furthest from the structure itself. Fire crews quickly contained the situation, though the alarm was escalated to a Code 4 to request additional support for thorough smoke management and a comprehensive search of the twelve-unit, three-story building. Among the units deployed to the scene were Buffalo Grove’s Quint 25, Engine 26, Engine 27, Ambulance 26, Battalion 4, as well as several chief officers. They were joined by reinforcements from neighboring departments including Long Grove Squad 55, Prospect Heights Engine 39, Wheeling Truck 24, Northbrook Tower 12, Deerfield-Bannockburn Engine 20, Arlington Heights Engine 4, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Battalion 51 and Squad 51, along with ambulances dispatched from Barrington and Hoffman Estates. The rapid response and coordinated efforts ensured that the situation was managed efficiently, minimizing potential risks to residents and property.
