Working fire in Schaumburg, 6-2-17

So I just saw this update from the Schaumburg Village Facebook page. Looks like there was quite a fire over on Good Speed Lane on June 2nd—pretty close to where I used to live back in the day. Here’s what they posted: --- These pictures are from a structure fire that broke out on June 2nd in the 2300 block of Good Speed Lane. Fortunately, the Schaumburg Fire Department managed to get things under control pretty quickly. The fire was contained to two residential units and part of the roof. Even so, the Hoffman Estates and Streamwood fire departments pitched in to help put it out completely. Luckily, no one got hurt—not the civilians living there, and not the firefighters either. Afterward, the Red Cross showed up to assist those who had to leave their homes temporarily. --- I took a quick look at the photos too. In the first one, you can see flames really tearing through some of the apartments—it’s intense! Then there’s another shot that gives you an even closer view of the damage. Finally, there’s this third photo showing the aftermath. It’s crazy how much destruction something like this can cause in such a short amount of time. Makes me grateful for all the hard work these firefighters do every single day. Anyway, hope everyone affected by this gets back on their feet soon.
