House fire in Chicago 8-17-13

Certainly! Here's a rewritten version of the content: --- This message comes from Eric Haak: So here’s what happened: The fire was still burning strong around 1702 hours. By the time I got there, it was already under control, but I thought I should share this because it was quite an unusual situation. This abandoned two-and-a-half-story wooden building was smack dab in the middle of the 6900 block of South Winchester. The block ends in a cul-de-sac at the southern end. What made this incident particularly strange was that there was a block party going on right when this happened! Hundreds of people were grilling, dancing, and kids were running around playing up and down the street. Then, all of a sudden, this house catches fire seemingly out of nowhere and it spreads quickly before any fire trucks could arrive. No one on the scene reported seeing anything suspicious or out of the ordinary. One witness simply said that one moment the house looked fine, and the next, it was engulfed in flames. Engine 101 used their deck gun to douse the fire and stop it from spreading further. I was only about two miles away when Engine 101 called in on the scene, and by the time I got there, not much was left to see. Engine 129, Truck 50, and Truck 41 were also on-site. --- Attached are some photos taken by Eric Haak: ![Chicago Fire Department](#) *Eric Haak photo* ![Chicago Fire Department](#) *Eric Haak photo* ![Chicago Fire Department](#) *Eric Haak photo* ![Chicago Fire Department](#) *Eric Haak photo* --- This is just an example of how it might look after being rewritten.
