I just got back from a little road trip around the south side of Chicago, and I wanted to share some photos I snapped along the way. First up, I visited Engine 16’s brand-new station over on East Pershing Road. It’s always exciting to see how these firehouses are modernizing, and this one looks absolutely impressive! Then, I made my way over to the fleet facility on 43rd Street to check out the new buggies that have been rolled out for the battalion chiefs. Talk about upgrading the gear—these vehicles look sleek and ready for action!
Here’s what caught my eye during my visit:
First photo: This is the new home of Chicago Fire Department Engine 16. The architecture alone gives off such a strong, reliable vibe. You can tell they’ve put a lot of thought into making it both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Second photo: Another angle of Engine 16’s station. From this perspective, you can really appreciate the size and layout of the building. It’s clear that this will be a hub of activity for years to come.
Third photo: These are the new vehicles assigned to the battalion chiefs. They’re equipped with all the latest tech and designed to get around quickly in emergency situations. Definitely an upgrade from the older models!
It’s moments like these that remind me why I love capturing the evolution of our city’s infrastructure. Each new addition brings hope for better service and safety for everyone. Hope you enjoy the pics—I know I had fun taking them!
Best,
Josh
