On December 16, 2005, the "high-capacity multi-layer pressure airbag" developed by Jinan Changlin Airbag Container Factory successfully passed the provincial scientific and technological achievements appraisal in Jinan. Organized by the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Department and entrusted by the Jinan Science and Technology Bureau, the one-day appraisal meeting brought together experts and professors from nine prestigious institutions, including the Tianjin Ship Repair Technology Research Institute, CSIC Comprehensive Technology and Economic Research Institute, No. 708 Research Institute, Qingdao University, and the Shanghai Ship Technology Research Institute.
During the event, the appraisal committee reviewed detailed technical documents, listened to the project development report, and conducted on-site blasting tests of the airbags. After thorough discussions and questioning, the experts reached a unanimous conclusion: the project had a clear objective, a feasible technical approach, a reasonable experimental design, reliable test data, and accurate results. The product was recognized as having significant social and economic benefits, and it was the first of its kind both in China and abroad, achieving international advanced standards. This breakthrough marked a major step forward in reducing costs in China’s shipbuilding industry.
The development of this high-capacity multi-layer pressure airbag was based on a new concept of "pressure airbag" technology, focusing on the damage mechanism under the dual action of the airbag during the movement of the ship's hull. It introduced innovative elements such as a new rubber formulation that enhances adhesion between fiber layers, a "low temperature and long time" vulcanization process, a double-sided pressing method, and an improved anti-explosion structure for the head.
Since its market launch, the high-capacity multi-layer pressure airbags from Jinan Changlin have been successfully applied to over 10 ships weighing more than 5,000 tons, with some reaching 10,000 tons. These innovations represent a significant contribution to China’s independent technological progress in ship launching. The product not only demonstrates technical excellence but also plays a crucial role in advancing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the shipbuilding industry.
