At the recent General Machinery Industry Association of China Pump Industry Technical Working Conference, Chairman of the Pump Branch, Tian Hongxing, emphasized that during the "Eleventh Five-Year" period, China will continue to boost investment in key sectors such as petroleum, chemicals, energy, and steel. The allocation of major national projects is expected to create significant opportunities for the machinery manufacturing industry, particularly for the pump sector. As a result, the development of large-scale pump equipment is becoming a core task, with a strong push toward localization to meet national economic and infrastructure needs.
In response to the current state of pump technology, Secretary-General of the Pump Branch, Li Yukun, highlighted the importance of leveraging advanced foreign technologies while focusing on digestion, absorption, and innovation. During the "11th Five-Year Plan," it is essential to explore new methods and mechanisms tailored to China's conditions, aiming to quickly build self-sustaining capabilities in pump equipment and strengthen the overall competitiveness of the industry. Additionally, he stressed the need to regulate market competition and foster a fair environment to ensure sustainable growth.
Wen Shunru, head of the Technology Development Department at the China Machinery Industry Federation, also pointed out that the overall technical level of China's pump industry remains relatively low. There are still challenges in meeting market demands regarding product variety, quality, reliability, automation, and personalization. To address this, Wen advocated for enhancing independent innovation capabilities, emphasizing original and integrated innovation. He also called for the continued improvement of advanced technologies through thorough digestion, absorption, and re-innovation. Future developments should focus on product characteristics, standardization, integration, human-centered design, and energy-saving technologies, aiming for breakthroughs in new products and solutions.
During the conference, technical experts proposed several recommendations for the pump industry's "Eleventh Five-Year Plan." These included increasing R&D investment in pump products, establishing effective R&D mechanisms for new products, encouraging enterprises to invest more in technological innovation, identifying gaps and export potential, and implementing policy support to help companies expand into international markets.
Participants at the meeting reached five key consensus points: first, to promote new achievements and improve the overall technical level across the industry; second, to revise technical standards as soon as possible; third, to organize technical exchanges and learn from foreign best practices; fourth, to accelerate the training of skilled personnel; and fifth, to maintain close cooperation with government departments and industry organizations to effectively bid for large-scale domestic and international projects.
With these strategic directions, the Chinese pump industry is poised to move forward with a stronger focus on innovation, quality, and global competitiveness.
