On March 26th, through the coordinated efforts of the three pipeline companies involved, the Lan Cheng-chang oil product pipeline project successfully completed its critical crossing over the West-East Gas Pipeline at pile No. 013 and at +1631 meters along the Zhengzhou branch line. This milestone marked a significant step forward in the project's development.
To ensure the continued safe operation of the West-East Gas Pipeline, the Lan Zhengchang Project Department, responsible for the crossing construction, worked closely with the Yuxi Management Office of the West-East Gas Transmission Company. They brought in specialized technicians to oversee the process, and all design and construction plans were thoroughly reviewed before proceeding. A formal Safety Agreement was also signed to guarantee compliance with safety standards.
Several key measures were implemented during the crossing process. First, the new oil pipeline was constructed with a required safety distance and corrosion protection from the gas pipeline below. The welds of the new pipeline were kept well away from the crossing point. Second, the exact burial depth and direction of the gas pipeline and optical cables were verified before construction began, and clear markings were made for reference. Third, manual excavation was conducted within 3 meters on both sides of the pipeline. Before digging, the relevant authorities from the West-East Gas Pipeline management were present to supervise and guide the work. Once the pipeline was exposed, dedicated personnel provided round-the-clock monitoring to ensure its integrity.
Fourth, a 12mm rubber plate was used to wrap the crossover section of the two pipelines, preventing damage to the outer coating of the existing gas pipeline. At the same time, insulation was maintained, and thorough leak detection tests were carried out. Fifth, when backfilling, the soil was manually pushed from the side and compacted carefully. The area behind the pipeline was filled first, followed by the side ditch. Sixth, a comprehensive safety management system was established, with detailed records maintained for each stage of the process. Lastly, after completion, efforts were made to restore the natural landscape and properly recycle all construction waste.
Throughout the entire construction period, the Pipeline III Company strictly adhered to the approved "Transit Plan" and "Emergency Response Plan" for passing the West-East Gas Pipeline, as authorized by the management office. The staff from the Yuxi Management Office remained on-site throughout the process, closely monitoring every detail to ensure the highest level of safety and efficiency. This successful crossing not only demonstrated technical expertise but also highlighted the importance of collaboration and strict adherence to safety protocols in complex pipeline projects.
