On March 26th, the Lan Cheng-chang oil product pipeline project successfully crossed the West-East Gas Pipeline at pile 013 and at +1631 meters along the Zhengzhou branch line, thanks to the coordinated efforts of three pipeline companies. This critical milestone was achieved through meticulous planning and close collaboration between all involved parties.
To ensure the safe and uninterrupted operation of the existing gas pipeline, the Lan Zhengchang Project Department, responsible for the crossing construction, worked closely with the Yuxi Management Office of the West-East Gas Transmission Company. Professional technicians were deployed to review the pipeline design and construction plan in detail, and a comprehensive safety agreement was signed to guarantee compliance with all regulations.
Several key safety measures were implemented throughout the process. First, the new oil pipeline was constructed with sufficient safety distance and corrosion protection from the gas pipeline, and all welds were kept away from the crossing point. Second, the exact burial depth and direction of the gas pipeline and optical cables were verified before construction, and clear markings were made on-site. Third, manual excavation was carried out within 3 meters on both sides of the pipeline, with supervision from the relevant authorities. Once the pipeline was exposed, dedicated personnel provided 24-hour monitoring to ensure its integrity.
Fourth, a 12mm rubber plate was used to wrap the crossover section to prevent damage to the outer coating of the gas pipeline during the crossing. Insulation and thorough leak detection were also conducted. Fifth, backfilling was done manually from the side, with careful compaction to avoid any disturbance to the pipeline. The area behind the pipeline was filled first, followed by the side ditch. Sixth, a robust safety management system was established, with detailed records maintained for every stage of the work. Lastly, after completion, landforms were restored, and waste materials were collected and treated in an environmentally responsible manner.
Throughout the entire construction period, the Pipeline III Company strictly adhered to the approved "Transit Plan" and "Emergency Response Plan" issued by the West-East Gas Pipeline Management Office. The Yuxi Management Office staff remained on-site throughout the process, closely monitoring the work to ensure the highest level of safety and efficiency. This successful crossing marked a significant achievement in the project’s progress and demonstrated the commitment of all teams involved to maintaining the integrity of the existing infrastructure while advancing new developments.
